Could Tom Holland and Zendaya host the Oscars?

Who do you think should host the Oscars this year?

When the Film Updates Twitter account asked the same question, British actor Tom Holland was a name suggested several times, many associating him with American actress Zendaya.

The couple starred together in Spider-Man: No Way Home, which was one of the pandemic’s biggest movies.

It is currently the sixth highest grossing film in US box office history, overtaking Titanic. At the rate it’s going, it will soon take fifth place, which currently belongs to Avengers: Infinity War.

But could Tom Holland and Zendaya host the Oscars if the film was snubbed at the ceremony? In 2019, Black Panther became the first superhero film to be nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars. It didn’t win that award, but did win three more, becoming the first Marvel film to win an Oscar.

Holland told The Hollywood Reporter in December that he “would love” to host the awards.

But past attempts to pair young stars have drawn criticism with Anne Hathaway and James Franco’s hosting duties largely exhausted when they presented in 2011. Billy Crystal was invited again the following year.

The official Oscars Twitter account also found people supporting Holland and Zendaya when it made a guess.

But perhaps the best response was from legendary singer Dionne Warwick.

This year will mark the first time the Oscars have had a host since Jimmy Kimmel was in charge in 2018, a back-to-back gig for him.

And with the Oscars again on ABC America – the late night host’s home network – another hit on stage is not out of the question.

The last time a host was named it was comedian and actor Kevin Hart who was supposed to headline the ceremony in 2019, but that didn’t happen after a tweet was discovered. homophobic suppressed since 2011.

Rather, the Oscars were presented by famous presenters.

Despite an increase in COVID-19 cases in the United States, the Oscars are scheduled to take place on March 27 in Los Angeles.

Ratings fell to an all-time high of 10.4 million people in the United States last year, while viewers of other awards shows also declined.

It has been a difficult award season with the controversy surrounding the Golden Globes and the Critics’ Choice awards postponed indefinitely.

Previous Oscar hosts included comedians Chris Rock and Ellen DeGeneres, who herself faced controversy, prompting her to announce the final season of her talk show after nearly 20 years of career.

The Oscar nominations will be announced on February 8.
