My grandma told me to work at Lidl because they pay well

SHE spent three years in a supporting role on This Morning and is one of the most popular faces on the show.

But after stepping into Holly Willoughby’s shoes for the first time in November, Josie Gibson showed her star potential – and then presented ITV’s flagship show with Vernon Kay a few weeks later.

Her presentation slots have proven to be extremely popular with viewers, who called on her to become a more regular item on the presentation list.

And it’s likely Josie will get her big shot when Holly steps back to film a new BBC challenge round with Wim Hof in the coming months.

Bubbly Bristolian Josie, 36, has yet to pinch herself as she realizes how far she has come.

She says: “Only a few years ago my grandmother suggested that I apply for a job at Lidl because they are good payers.

“I think something has always supported me, I don’t know what it is. I guess I’m pretty religious.

“Again, you don’t know what’s in store for you – it could be here today and gone tomorrow, so you have to take advantage of it.

“My family have been my biggest fans and supporters of all. I have a large family and I think I got a message from everyone, and I couldn’t respond to everyone.

Josie first rose to fame in 2010 when she won Big Brother with almost 80% of the audience’s vote, the highest of any series in the series.

Alongside her co-star and then her boyfriend John James Parton, she went on to land two of her own reality TV series before becoming a regular guest on the panels.

Successful with viewers, Josie joined This Morning in 2019 as a Contest Announcer.

Confident and sexier body

She quickly became known for her comedic timing and was the face of everything fun on the schedule, from her live competitions to a vacation miniseries with new Friday host Alison Hammond.

Being seen by over a million viewers every day has seen Josie’s fame soar, and she says, “When someone asks me for a photo, I think, ‘Oh my God, someone wants a photo. of me !’ It’s really flattering.

Her newfound fame and recent promotion to work alongside Vernon – who Josie says is “a beautiful, true salt of the earth” – also saw her approached for a very expensive underwear advertising contract.

And Josie, who has gone from a size 20 to a size 14, says she feels more confident and sexier after losing weight.

I didn’t put the slightest pressure on myself and I didn’t limit myself. i just made some good decisions

She says, “I haven’t bought any new clothes, but an underwear brand that is amazing wants to work with me.

“I probably shouldn’t say anything. These are real women, but I still want to look and feel good.

Josie attributes her weight loss to Weight Watchers and was unveiled as a company ambassador earlier this month.

And although she indulged in Christmas, she says her diet is still on track.
She adds: “I put my size 14 jeans on again. I would say they’re a hell of a push.

“I didn’t limit myself to Christmas. I fluctuated a bit and went up and down.

“I had an 18-20 before and now I’m a 14-16 so I’m happy with that. I never know how much weight I lost in stones because I no longer weigh myself.

“I used to have a lot of scales, but I don’t own any anymore. I don’t trust the scale on purpose anymore because sometimes you get so obsessed with numbers.

“I’m now relying on how many exercises I can do during the week, and how well I can eat and how much water I can drink that day. I no longer have to weigh myself at WW either – it’s now optional.

“I didn’t put any pressure on myself at all, and I didn’t limit myself. I just made some good decisions.

“At WW there are a lot of zero point foods to choose from, so I eat all the right things and feel great.”

For Josie, a major effort to get back in shape was for the sake of her three-year-old son, Reggie.

She says, “I definitely have more energy and I’m able to run after Reggie now.

“He’s as fast as lightning. I have to get up in the morning and go, and I lost that a bit.

“Life is fun – it can throw things at you, but when you feel fit and healthy you can keep going. I do my run in HIIT (high intensity interval training). But I want to improve myself in longevity training.

“I was really good last week and did a Blaze workout three times in a David Lloyd gym, but then I’m working outside this week so it depends.

“Nothing is set, but I’m going to have a lot more structure this year.”

Josie is currently single after her split from Reggie’s father, Terry, when he was only four months old.

The couple, who have kept their relationship out of public view and never revealed Terry’s last name, moved in together in March 2020 during the first lockdown so they could co-parent Reggie, but Terry moved in July.

Now, although Josie feels more confident than ever, she’s making it clear that she’s in conflict about returning to the dating scene.

When asked if she was ready to find a new boyfriend, the star replied, “I don’t think it would be right for them because I work and take care of my little boy.

“If I’m dating someone, it’s time away from Reggie, and I want to give him everything I have right now.

“However, at the same time, I would like to be invited to dinner and have a little attention. I do, and I don’t – I can’t figure it out right now.

“It’s hard because if I meet someone I really love you want to give them a little bit of yourself and I feel like I don’t have enough of myself to give right now.

“And I don’t want people to come in and out of his life. It would be hard, wouldn’t it?
Marriage also seems firmly out of the question at the moment – even though she does find Mr. Right.

It takes my brain a little longer than the average person to connect with the body.

Josie was a bridesmaid for her sister Anna last year and says that while the whole day has been perfect, she was a bag of nerves.

She remembers, “I’m not kidding, I get up in front of millions of people every day and watch TV.

“But nothing is scarier than walking down the aisle. I had to walk her little boy down the aisle, and, oh my God, I was a wreck.

Fierce competition

“I was shaking and everything. I didn’t know everyone, I was a bag of nerves and I said to myself: “I could never do that”. I was shaking. I couldn’t even look up.

Although Josie is happily single, she certainly doesn’t lack admirers, of all kinds.

And she says she no longer reads her direct messages on social media because of some of the suitors trying to get her attention.

She says, “I once checked them out and saw something so horrible.

“This man was showing off and – to put it that way – he had a body like Baywatch and a face like Crimewatch. So now I never check them.

In the coming months, This Morning fans are hoping to see more of Josie on their screens – and that might not be the only show she’s giving a whirlwind.

Previously, she had two of her own reality shows, John James And Josie: What Happened Next and There’s Something About Josie, and she appeared on Channel 4’s winter sports show The Jump.

Now she’s craving a whirlwind on Strictly Come Dancing.

She says, “I would love to, but what I’m not very good at is dancing to someone else’s movements.” When I’m in aerobics class,

“I’m the one who can’t keep up, and I’m never in line with the rest of the class.

“It takes my brain a little longer than the average person to connect with the body.

“Let’s not put him outside. I will strictly assume that I am gagging for work.

“The competition is so fierce. I would be so afraid to go out first. I would also have a hard time dancing in heels.

“I can’t even wear heels, let alone dance in them.”
