Former Australian cricketer Shane Warne said on Friday that Novak Djokovic was entitled not to receive a COVID hit but that Australia was also allowed to expel the country’s number one men’s singles tennis player from the country. Djokovic admitted on Wednesday that he conducted an in-person media interview and photoshoot in December when he knew he tested positive for COVID-19. Djokovic, who took the “official and approved” PCR test on December 16, also revealed that he only received notification of a positive PCR test result after attending a tennis event in Belgrade on December 17 where he presented awards to children.

On the aforementioned days, the Serb also performed a rapid antigen test, which turned out negative every time.

“Novak is a great tennis player and one of the greatest of all time. Without a doubt. But he lied on the entry forms, went out in public when he knew he had the lust and now faces legal action. He has the right not to be piped but Oz has the right to kick him out! Okay? #shambles, “Shane Warne tweeted.

After experiencing the positive result of COVID, Djokovic completed on December 18 at his tennis center in Belgrade a “long-standing commitment” for a media interview and a photo shoot for a French daily.

However, Djokovic conceded that giving an interview was an error in judgment and agreed that he should have postponed the engagement.

It comes after the tennis star won her procedural appeal on Monday, overturning the border officer’s initial decision to cancel her visa.

Judge Anthony Kelly of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia overturned the cancellation of Djokovic’s visa and confirmed that the twenty-time Grand Slam winner Serbian would be allowed to stay in Australia.

Djokovic was also ordered to be released from detention immediately with his passport and “personal effects”.
