ISLAMABAD: Pakistani grassroots cricketers will be honored today by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) with cash incentives and recognition for a year of splendid performances that have captured the hearts of millions of cricket fans across the world, The news reported Friday.
At a reception scheduled for today (Friday) evening, PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja is expected to present a cash bonus of Rs 1.5m to each of the top 15 players who have remained an integral part of the unit in all three formats of the game. throughout the year.
Two test specialists Abid Ali and Sajjid Khan were also invited in addition to 18 players (three reserves) for their outstanding performance in the long version of the game.
“The Top Cricketers Reception is meant to recognize the services of all those cricketers who have helped the team stand tall in almost every format of the game,” a PCB official said.

“Barring brief misfires, the team members have put in outstanding performances throughout the year. From performances in the T20 World Cup, performances in home and away test matches Abroad, the team showed exceptional courage in all areas of the game.”
“Beating South Africa on their own soil and later sweeping Bangladesh into their own backyard were outstanding achievements that needed to be recognized,” the PCB official said.
Pakistan won 20 of 29 T20Is during the year which also saw them show some grit at the T20 World Cup. The seemingly undefeated team eventually lost to Australia in the semi-finals, but not before winning many hearts for the competitive element that was presented. Beating pre-tournament favorites India by ten wickets also surprised many.
Two of the main cricketers Harris Rauf and Fakhar Zaman will not be able to attend the reception due to their Australian Big Bash League commitments while Shadab Khan is expected to arrive in time on Friday.
The reception which will only be attended by senior PCB officials is meant to boost the morale of the team members ahead of the eventful season which also includes important playoffs and the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia in October/November.

Pakistan will also host top international teams including Australia, England, New Zealand and West Indies in the upcoming season.
