Royal Family: Prince Charles and Prince William ‘planned’ together to persuade Queen to make major decision

Prince Charles and Prince William held talks over Christmas to persuade the Queen to make a major change, it has been reported.

According to sources, both father and son told Her Majesty she had to act on New Years.

Charles got the ball rolling over the festive period by chatting with the Duke of Cambridge who spent Christmas with Kate Middleton and the children at their Norfolk home.

After discussions, they approached the queen and encouraged her to put plans in place.

According to The Sun, Charles believed his brother, Andrew, had “missed the road” and that the Royal Family should distance themselves from the Prince – who has in the past been seen as the Queen’s favorite son.

She was reportedly encouraged to withdraw her military titles, sponsorships and royal status to protect the business as the Duke of York was at the center of a civil sex trial.

Experts also say Charles’ behavior shows how close he must be to his mother now that Philip is gone.

After Andrew’s fate was sealed, Princess Andrew and Prince Edward visited him to let him know what was in store for him.

Last Thursday (January 13), the Queen stripped Andrew of his royal privileges, just a day after Judge Lewis Kaplan ordered him to face a civil trial in New York.

A source said: ‘He felt he just ran out of steam. So he discussed it with William between Christmas and New Years and his son fully agreed with him. William and Charles then informed the Queen that they were of the same opinion. Ultimately, it was the Queen’s final decision, but she told them she shared their views. The Queen and Andrew had the final conversations on the matter on Thursday.

Another source said: ‘William thought this needed to be resolved. His point of view was similar to Charles’s in that it needed to be sorted out.

“He didn’t think the Duke of York was taking good care of it at all.”

Prince Charles spent his Christmas Day and Boxing Day at Windsor Castle with his mother and another family, where the disgraced prince was “widely discussed”.

“Somewhere he has to stop because he was using so much royal family money. It was then unavoidable when the judge ordered a trial on Wednesday.

Another source told The Sun: “He [severing ties with Andrew] was a public relations decision and a financial decision. In the end, it all comes down to money.

“He’s a private citizen now. They can say, ‘We have nothing to do with him. We fired him.’

“They’re trying to limit those zeros on the settlement.”
