Jasprit Bumrah fired Dean Elgar for 3
With 206 points behind, South Africa finished the first day of the third test match underway in Cape Town a little ahead of India. Responding to India’s total of 223 first innings, the hosts were 17-to-one at the strains on Tuesday. Despite a cautious start, the Proteas ended up losing the crucial wicket captain Dean Elgar, which was pulled out by Jasprit Bumrah, who once again produced a fantastic delivery.
In the fourth ball from the fifth above, Bumrah threw a long throw, crossing the left-hander. The line – so close to the stumps – and the length forced the South African captain to play on it. He tried to go with soft hands but ended up getting an outside advantage for the first slide where Cheteshwar Pujara completed the formalities. The delivery was such that Elgar was left completely distraught after bringing him to Pujara.

Elgar could only collect three points on 16 balls. His opening partner Aiden Markram went undefeated and recorded eight points on 20 balls. Meanwhile, night watchman Keshav Maharaj also didn’t lose his wicket and added six points to the scoreboard.
The duo will take over the baton on day 2.
Earlier in day one, Indian captain Virat Kohli recorded half a century, scoring 79 runs on 201 balls. His courageous move also consisted of 12 fours and a six.
Cheteshwar Pujara narrowly missed half a century, slamming 43 runs on 77 balls.
Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen were in great shape for South Africa’s bowling department, winning four and three wickets respectively. Duanne Olivier, Lungi Ngidi and Maharaj each pocketed a dismissal.
With the series locked at 1-1, India is for the first time considering a historic Test Series victory in South Africa.
