A new bride was so upset by how she looked in her wedding photos that she decided to lose weight.
When Verity Trueman, 30, of Stratford-upon-Avon, UK, married in 2018, she weighed 240 pounds, according to SWNS.
“My weight had become such a problem that something as simple as putting on a seat belt was a nightmare as the clip sank painfully into my leg,” she said. “I was always tired, everything was aching and I couldn’t even do a 10 minute core workout without it hurting.”

Trueman decided it was time for a lifestyle change a few weeks after the ceremony when she got her wedding photos.
“The last straw was seeing my wedding photos,” Trueman said in a press release. “I cried for days after looking at them. I was the fatest I had ever been and couldn’t even bring myself to look at these photos again for months afterwards.”
Six months later, in January 2019, Trueman joined UK-based weight loss program Slimming World.
“I’ve struggled with my weight since I was a teenager, so I tried every diet you could think of,” Trueman said in a statement for the program. “What struck me about Slimming World is that I never went hungry because I could always enjoy all my favorite foods, like pasta.”

According to SWNS, Trueman lost four pounds in his first week on the program and learned to prepare and eat healthier foods.
She also stayed with her group, even after it went live during the coronavirus pandemic.
“The group was really amazing too,” Trueman said. “Being around people who understand what it’s like to struggle with your weight was so heartwarming and I really counted on their support throughout the process.”

However, his journey has not been perfect.
“Of course there were times when I had a bump in the road – an unexpected gain or a little wobble,” Trueman said. “I have found it very helpful to keep a food journal or research the menu before a meal so that I can make a healthier choice. “
With his newfound confidence, Trueman left her husband and changed jobs.
“Looking back, I can see that I was not happy in my relationship until I got married,” Trueman said. “I looked for comfort in food and gained a lot of weight very quickly before marriage.”

After two years of hard work, Trueman now weighs 156 pounds, 84 pounds less than his weight on his wedding day.
She was even honored by Slimming World for her weight loss.
“Any form of activity before was painful to me, I could barely walk up a flight of stairs without panting,” Trueman said. “Now I have a whole wardrobe dedicated to sportswear. I love Pilates and spinning classes, and I always feel great afterwards.”

“When I was at my strongest, it was like my unhappiness seeped into all aspects of my life,” she continued. “I would wear dark, baggy clothes because I thought they were going to slim down and I would blend into the background so as not to stand out.”
However, Trueman’s 84-pound weight loss journey gave him confidence.
“Now I’m proud of who I am and what I’ve come through,” she said. “The world is exciting and new – and I can’t wait to see what happens next.”
